The tour opens with three days on the Garden Route: caves, forests, rivers and a safari in search of the Big Five. Back in Cape Town, students spend four mornings volunteering in small teams at kindergarten projects, giving young children the one-to-one attention they rarely get.
Afternoons belong to the city. Students surf at Muizenberg, ride or hike up Table Mountain, cross to Robben Island to hear the story of Nelson Mandela's imprisonment, and finish with a feast of dishes from across Africa and a day on the Cape Peninsula.
